What attracted you to study in London?

Throughout my childhood, my dad prepared me to study here – so London was the only place I wanted to continue my studies!

I found out about INTO’s International Foundation at an international education fair in Tbilisi, Georgia. I decided to switch to it instead of studying A-levels and it was the best choice I made. The programme helped me perform better when I progressed to university.

Coming to London was very difficult at first. Leaving your friends and family and moving to a huge city is not an easy change.

But the INTO staff were very friendly and they helped me overcome any difficulties. What I valued most was the feeling of unity at the INTO Centre, everyone was ready to help you any time.

What’s been your favourite part of the experience?

The friends I’ve made! After three years these students are still my best friends, even though we may not study on the same course now.

Apart from my friends, my teachers. Their role was crucial in my career decision-making, and the knowledge they gave me was invaluable.

What advice can you give to future students?

I think I had an advantage over students who did not do an International Foundation, as I was familiar with the University’s standards and teaching skills – which made my first-year experience much better.

I would recommend INTO to everyone, especially those who are planning to progress to City, University of London.

Why did you choose to study abroad in London?

Three of my siblings were at INTO at the time and my Dad was keen on sending us abroad in order to learn more about to different cultures. Especially since the education system is much better in the UK.

Have there been any challenges?

The most challenging thing I experienced was that I had to become fully independent. I’m glad it happened as now I can do anything I need to by myself. And if I don’t know how, I’ll just learn!

What’s been your favourite experience?

Students came from around the world which allowed me to meet lots of people, and encouraged me to break any cultural or language barriers. I’m now more confident in my day-to-day life.

Also, all my teachers had an impact on me. Honestly, I’ve learned so much from them, both inside and outside of the academic curriculum.

How did INTO prepare you for university?

What are you studying?

At the moment I’m studying BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering at City, University of London after finishing my International Foundation in Engineering and Mathematics at INTO.

Why did you choose to study abroad at INTO?

In summer 2016, my father said “Why don’t you go and study in London?!”.

At first, I thought it was just an idea and it would disappear with time. But he started researching universities and suggested INTO City, University of London as it’s one of the best pathway providers in London. You also get a conditional offer to the University, which is ranked highly for student satisfaction.

What’s your favourite thing about studying in London?

There are so many benefits! One of my favourite experiences was getting the opportunity to learn English from native speakers. Also, getting to know about the lifestyle of Londoners.  And I loved my time with other International students who taught me about their different cultures and traditions.

Have you found anything challenging?

The moment I stepped out of Heathrow Airport, everything was different. The weather, people, culture, language, literally everything. And it was freezing! At the beginning, I was scared of change, but the INTO staff warmly welcomed me. After a few weeks, I started adapting to the new atmosphere and settled in well. I got used to living in London and being far away from loved ones.

What was your favourite part of your experience?

INTO develops you as an individual and makes sure you’re fully prepared for university. I had all the requirements to join university directly, but I chose the Foundation because it teaches the subjects required to achieve high grades at university.

I’d like to thank all of the staff at INTO City especially my personal tutor. She gave me daily advice and encouragement, which helped me stay positive and motivated.
